Isaiah Thomas

If you haven't had the privilege of watching Isaiah Thomas play prep basketball, you have one more year to enjoy this electrifying Curtis High School athlete.

Isaiah, scheduled to graduate from Curtis High in the Class of 2007, is drawing rave reviews‹and putting up incredible numbers‹after only two seasons of prep hoops. His performance as a sophomore was stunning but paled in comparison to what he accomplished during the 2005-06 Curtis High School season. With the 5-9 Isaiah leading the way by draining long three-point shots or driving past the big boys on the way to the basketball, Curtis finished the season with a 25-3 overall record.

His individual accomplishments were extraordinary. Isaiah averaged 33 points per game to earn all-league and MVP honors in the South Puget Sound League South Division. He set new SPSL record for points in a season (602), highest league scoring average (31.7 points), most three-point field goals in a game (eight), most field goals in a season (211) and most points in a game (52). Not only was he a stellar scorer, he also finished third in the league with 89 assists.

Isaiah accomplished even more at the WIAA 4A state tournament, where he earned tournament Most Valuable Player honors in leading Curtis to a sixth-place finish. Isaiah established new 4A tournament records for most points in a game (51), most points in a tournament (162) and most points in a career (241, including 79 points in 2005).

His honors included The News Tribune Area Player of the Year and All-Area Team, 2006 Seattle P-I Winter Sports Star, and WIAA/Seattle P-I Athlete of the Week.
