Welcome to the website of the Tacoma Athletic Commission. The TAC is a volunteer organization with a 65-year history of support for youth and sports in Tacoma and Pierce County. TAC fund-raisers have resulted in millions of dollars for sports equipment, scoreboards, travel expenses and facility improvements for youth activities at local schools, parks and recreation departments, and Boys and Girls Clubs. One shining example of TAC leadership and energy is the Tacoma Dome. Would the Northwest's most versatile, covered multi-purpose facility exist if it hadn't been for the TAC? Hard to say, perhaps, but there is no question who raised the money and sparked the campaign to build "A Dome of Our Own." Thank you for visiting our home page. WHAT IS THE TACOMA ATHLETIC COMMISSION?

The Tacoma Athletic Commission, established December 30, 1942, is dedicated to the ideals and values that sports competition provides for the youth of our community. The mission of the Tacoma Athletic Commission is threefold:

To promote amateur athletics at all levels.
To provide financial support to high schools, colleges, sports clubs and organizations, and recreation programs within the Pierce County area.
To recognize athletes, coaches, and administrators for distinguished achievement or service.

WHAT SERVICE DOES THE TACOMA ATHLETIC COMMISSION PROVIDE?

Group recognition to outstanding athletes from various sports on a monthly basis.
Sponsorship of the "Golden Gloves", Tacoma's #1 boxing event of the year.
Sponsorship of the Banquet of Champions and Tacoma-Pierce County Sports Hall of Fame.
Sponsorship of the Ken Still Classic golf tournament.
Funding and resources to support operational aspects of the Shanaman Sports Museum of Tacoma-Pierce County.
Funding to local organizations to help enhance current and future programs and facilities.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES

The Tacoma Athletic Commission considers requests for funding on a monthly basis for a variety of purposes including travel assistance for national and international competitions, special events, program enhancement, and development of recreational/athletic facilities, and for purchase of athletic equipment.
