Zach Robertson opened the season with a dominant performance, scoring a hat trick and adding an assist in Puyallup’s 6-1 victory over perennial powerhouse Gig Harbor.
Sophomore Kade Price led Bellarmine Prep with a team-high 13 points in a thrilling upset over No. 1 seed Rainier Beach in the opening round of the 3A Boys State Championship.
Britta Nelson, captain of Gig Harbor’s H2Whoa Dance Team, has helped make program history. Under her leadership, the team competed at Nationals in Orlando for the first time ever and is preparing for another strong showing at the state championships. Last season, Britta played a key role in H2Whoa’s state hip-hop title and runner-up finish in pom. She maintains a 3.95 GPA while balancing rigorous academics with her commitment to dance.
Harshmen led Annie Wright to its first state title in just the program’s fifth full year. He delivered a standout performance in the championship game with 20 points and 9 rebounds against Lynden Christian. He was then named SB Live Tournament MVP for his standout play throughout the tournament.
As a junior, Rylee Evans was the 4A SPSL All-Around, Vault, and Bars Champion and was named SPSL MVP. She also claimed the 4A District 3/4 All-Around and Vault titles and became the 4A State Gymnastics All-Around and Vault Champion this year.
