Clint Names Male Recipients

The Tacoma Athletic Commission, serving all high schools in Tacoma and Pierce County, is honored to award Austin Egan with the Clint Names Male Multi-Sport Excellence Award for the 2022–2023 school year. During Austin’s time at Rogers High, he played baseball, tennis, golf, basketball, and was a two-time state DECA member and earned a varsity letter in volunteer work as a habitat steward with the Pierce Conservation District. This spring, Austin ended high school season in style by competing in two state tournaments (baseball and tennis) over the span of seven days. As a baseball player, Austin earned three varsity letters and was named an SPSL All-League player twice. Austin helped lead Rogers High to the State tournament in 2023. It was the Rams' first trip to the state tournament since 2012. During the playoffs, Austin pitched in three must-win games and did not allow one run in those games. He finished the season with a 4–1 record with 3 saves and batted .300 during the postseason. Austin also played at 2nd base for the Rams. In addition to playing for Rogers, Austin also plays on a New Level college prep team, and as a junior, Austin was named a Baseball Factory All-American. In tennis, Austin earned four varsity letters and was the 2022–23 SPSL champion in singles and was named the 2022–23 SPSL Singles MVP. As a junior, Austin was named the Tacoma Athletic Commission Doubles Tennis Players of the Year and medaled at the state tournament. He was also named the SPSL Doubles MVP. As a sophomore, Austin was named the SPSL MVP in Doubles and was an SPSL All-League player as a freshman. At Rogers, Austin earned nine varsity letters and qualified for the state tournament three times. Austin will play baseball for Shoreline College next year. Austin is hoping one day to play professional baseball and professional pickleball.
