Tana Pritchard, Clover Park High School

It is rare that athletes at the high school level are given the highest honors in the state in both football and basketball but Clover Park’s Ionatana Pritchard did just that and much more. He is the TAC’s High School Athlete of the Year and his credentials are truly outstanding.

He was chosen to the All-State football and basketball teams and was the MVP of the state high school basketball tournament.

In basketball he scored 1324 points, averaging 19 points per game and 11 rebounds. He was a three-time all-league selection, the state 2A Player of the Year and MVP of the 2A South Puget Sound League.

In football he was a four-year starter, the All Area quarterback, MVP of the South Puget Sound League and a first-team selection at quarterback and special teams punter. He averaged 41.7 yards per kick and passed for 1620 yards and 18 touchdowns. In the final game which earned the Warriors a playoff shot he ran 62 yards for a TD and hit 13 of 20 pass attempts for 203 yards.

With a 3.85 grade point average, Pritchard also started in varsity baseball. He was Clover Park’s TAC Athlete of the Year in both football and basketball.

Actively involved in Young Life and his church, Pritchard is off to WSU in the Fall where he has been awarded a football scholarship by the Cougars. Ironically he was recruited as a linebacker despite his gaudy offensive marks. His coach was quoted during the season that he held him out of practice on defense because he didn’t want his offensive players to get hurt. Go Cougs!
