The Graham-Kapowsin football team had a magical season finishing 14-0 and defeating Lake Stevens 44-7 to win the 4A State Championship. Their dominance helped earn the Eagles an invitation to play in the National GEICO State Champions Bowl Series game in Las Vegas, at Bishop Gorman HS. The match-up was against Georgia 7A State Champion and nationally-ranked Collins Hill HS, who was heavily favored. Both teams battled back-and-forth through the game, but it came down to a 32-yard touchdown pass, with one second remaining, to seal the game for the Eagles, 40-36. Finishing the year, GK team members earned 10 all-area selections and had the Washington Gatorade Player of the Year. To wrap-up the team's accomplishments, their head coach Eric Kurle was selected as a finalist for the National Coach of the Year in the 2022 All-American Bowl.
