Journalists bring crucial information to the masses, hold those in power accountable, and can highlight the triumphs of the human spirit. Washington State University is known for its Edward R. Murrow College of Communications, which has produced big names in local and national broadcasters in both the fields of sports and news broadcasting. Albert’s accomplishments are remarkable. During his high school career, he has been on the Principal’s Honor Roll, earned the prestigious SAI Leadership Excellence Award, won the Patrick M. Henry Bronze Medal for Patriotism, and he is a Regents Scholar. While at Lakes High School, he was a member of the School’s band for four years, a member of the ASB and current President of the student body, a member of the Lakes High School Army JROTC and currently serving as Battalion Commander, and has benn on the City of Lakewood Youth Council for three years. In his role on the youth council, he attends many community events and participates in the Read Across American program at Lake Louise Elementary School.

To learn that, you must know that Albert has been singularly focused on his service to the students and staff of Lakes High School for the past four years. He has served at all levels of the Association of Student Body leadership, rising to the position of President this year. Albert can be heard each morning giving the day's announcements and ending with the simple positive tag line: "It's always a great day to be a Lancer!" Albert has been responsible for every pep assembly and dance this year, doing all the behind the scenes planning, measuring, accounting, set-up and tear-down; it is done with his trademark, larger than life smile. However, Albert's service does not stop with his notable ASB experience. He has also been an integral member of the Lakes JROTC Lancer Battalion. Like ASB, Albert has risen through the ranks and has earned the position of Lancer Battalion Commander. Through his experience and mentoring in JROTC, Albert has honed his skills as an organized and measured leader. He has an ability beyond his years to see a project or task, break it down into critical components, describe and delegate what needs to occur for completion.
