The Tacoma-Pierce Athletic Commission is proud to present the 2025 Scott Names Most Outstanding Male Athlete Award to Mason Pike, a senior at Puyallup High School whose rare combination of elite athleticism, academic discipline, and character-driven leadership has made him one of the most respected student-athletes in the region.
Last year, Mason was honored with the Tom Names Inspirational Award as a junior, and over the past year, he has only deepened his legacy on and off the field. Known for his extraordinary skill set, Mason has continued to dominate Washington high school baseball, leading the Puyallup Vikings with poise, power, and consistency. Whether he's pitching a shutout, crushing extra-base hits, or leading his teammates in the dugout, Mason brings intensity, focus, and humility to every game.
In 2024–2025, Mason once again earned All-State honors and was named SPSL Player of the Year, affirming his position as one of the top baseball players not only in the state—but in the nation. A switch-hitter with raw bat speed and advanced plate discipline, Mason is equally dangerous at the plate as he is on the mound. His fastball continues to touch 90 mph, and his fielding as a middle infielder reflects elite-level athleticism. A member of the USA Prospect Development Team and ranked among the Top 25 players nationally by Perfect Game, Mason has committed to continue his academic and athletic career at Oregon State University, one of the premier college baseball programs in the country.
Beyond his statistics, what truly sets Mason apart is his leadership. He is a captain, a mentor, and a role model. His coaches frequently refer to him as one of the best young men they’ve ever coached—praising not just his performance, but his integrity, selflessness, and work ethic. Mason supports his school community, attends other students’ performances and athletic events, and mentors younger players through pitching lessons and encouragement.
Academically, Mason maintains an impressive 3.8 GPA, demonstrating the same excellence in the classroom that he shows on the field. He balances a demanding athletic schedule with a rigorous academic load, earning the respect of teachers, administrators, and peers alike.
Mason Pike’s journey is a testament to the values that defined Scott Names himself—commitment, excellence, leadership, and humility. He represents the best of what high school athletics can be, and his continued growth and success promise to leave a lasting mark not just at Puyallup High School, but throughout the greater Pierce County community.
The Tacoma-Pierce Athletic Commission is honored to recognize Mason Pike as the 2025 Scott Names Most Outstanding Male Athlete, celebrating his remarkable achievements and the leadership he brings to every arena he enters.
